Film Sales

In contrast to laminating pouches, which are normally used by individuals in small quantities, there are also so-called laminating films on rolls. Here the laminating film is customised as per the customer’s requirements. Widths of up to 1.4m and lengths of up to 2000m are common. Have you ever seen a laminated poster at the side of the road? This will have been sealed with rolled laminating film. As standard, laminating films are offered in gloss or matt.

Special projects such as sticky-back-film with self-sticking reverse side, coloured laminating films, films with UV-protection or water-resistant films can also be used.

The strength of the films is measured in micron (micrometer). The standard widths of laminating films are 35, 75, 125, 175 and 250 micron. (Hot) lamination is always done on both sides and this can often lead to confusion. To avoid this, the total strength should always be used (eg. If you want to laminate a document of 125 micron on both sides, this should be shown as 2 x 125 micron or a total strength of 250 micron).

Film pouches are used in the pouch laminating machines. The strength is always given for one side of the pocket. For example: when talking about 125 micron, the total strength amounts to 250 micron. Some manufacturers also display the strength of 2 x 125 micron (which corresponds to 250 micron) on the packaging.

Laminating films are normally offered in a glossy or matt finish. Glossy films can considerably increase the colour brilliance and intensity of a photo or document. The advantage of matt films are that there is no reflection and they can easily be read even in bright light. In addition, matt laminated documents are also considered more refined than the original material and are therefore ideal for more prestigious contracts.
